Packers release RB James Starks after seven seasons

For years James Starks served as a dependable foot soldier in the Green Bay backfield, defying modern NFL turnover rates, but it appears his run is over.

The Packers released their long-tenured backup running back on Tuesday after seven seasons, first reported.

The former Oklahoma State cornerback was plagued by injuries and off-field incidents during his two seasons with the Browns. After seeing the news that the Steelers released him, Browns Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas offered an interesting take.

Gilbert was the eighth overall pick in Cleveland’s disastrous 2014 draft. The Browns followed Gilbert’s selection by trading back into the first round to take former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel with the 22nd overall pick.

Neither player worked out as Manziel is now out of the league and Gilbert never got on track. Gilbert, a unanimous All-American in 2013, had just three tackles while appearing in 12 games for the Steelers. He broke up eight passes and recorded his lone career interception as a rookie.

The 42-10 score might not suggest it, but the Redskins’ Super Bowl victory over Denver was an epic comeback — starting with Williams. With Washington already down 10-0, Williams Cheap Jerseys Youth went down late in the first quarter, twisting his leg after a Denver sack. But on his first play back at the start of the second quarter, he hit receiver Ricky Sanders for an 80-yard touchdown. He finished the quarter completing 9 of 11 passes for 228 yards and four touchdowns, two of which went for Cheap Kids Jerseys at least 50 yards.

His play was key to the Redskins scoring 35 points in the second quarter, a single-quarter Super Bowl record that still stands. Williams didn’t score again and threw an interception in the third, but he had already done enough to guarantee victory.
