NFL free agency: Falcons place second-round tender on WR Taylor Gabriel

The Atlanta Falcons are ready to reward wide receiver Taylor Gabriel for last season’s breakout campaign.

Gabriel, a restricted free agent, was given a second-round tender worth $2.81 million Friday by the Falcons, according to AJC.com. This means Atlanta gets first refusal on any offer, but would receive a second-round pick as compensation should it accept a matched offer.

In other words, the Falcons should be safe in keeping their speedy offensive weapon who stepped up for Matt Ryan last season after a disappointing tenure with the Browns.

Gabriel finished last season with 35 catches for 579 yards and six touchdowns. He caught nine passes in the playoffs with a 19 yards-per-catch average.

Not bad a for a guy who went unselected in the 2014 NFL Draft.

You were a five-star prospect from Georgia, went to Georgia out of high school before transferring to Louisville. Tell me about your college path.

Harvey-Clemons: I grew up in a small town in Georgia and everyone cared about football. I started playing basketball early, but in my town, football was everything. Football kind of grew on me, and I had a great coach in Coach (Randy) McPherson in high school and he helped me get recruited.

Coming to Georgia was awesome, but I unfortunately had some issues there Cheap NFL Jerseys and didn’t really show who I was. Coming from my area, I had a tough transition at Georgia and Cheap Authentic MLB Jerseys I’ve grown a lot since then.

It’s official: Jerry Jones is unethical

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has received a slap on the wrist for giving Cowboys game tickets, airfare and hotel rooms to police officers in Arkansas, according to multiple reports.

The gifts to North Little Rock police and their families, toward the end of the 2016 season, were valued at $300,000, according to The Dallas Morning News, and violated ethics laws, making Jones, an Arkansas native, subject to light censure by the state’s Ethics Commission.

Jones, who appeared before the commission to defend his gifts, reportedly said he viewed them as a positive message to police for their volunteer work when not on duty rather than a reward for doing their jobs. In fact, Jones reportedly felt so strongly about it that he wouldn’t accept a settlement in the case.

The commission ruled that the officers were wrong in thinking that the gifts were acceptable, and the North Little Rock City Council passed a resolution declaring the gifts compensation.

For extra spice, they caught fast, versatile rookie Alvin Kamara when he slid to the third round; many predictions had him as one of the elite backs in the draft. Those who miss the McAllisters, Bushes and Pierre Thomas of olden days will love Kamara.

No one ever imagined Manti Te’o and “underrated” ever being in the same sentence, but this was an underrated signing, after Te’o missed most of last season in San Diego with a torn Achilles. A.J. Klein came over from the Panthers and, even with Te’o there, will play a bigger role Cheap Jerseys Sites than he did in Carolina.

Meanwhile, a player who missed all of last season with Cheap Jerseys Paypal Free Shipping a torn ACL, outside linebacker Hau’oli Kikaha, could solve their pass-rusher dilemma. However, because he’s torn that ligament three times, the Saints haven’t counted on him to be that player … yet.

Nationals’ Max Scherzer still waiting to throw fastball after stress fracture

Max Scherzer has been in spring training the past week with his teammates, but he’s still waiting for his fastball to arrive.

The Nationals pitcher is slated to throw his first bullpen session of the spring Saturday but will not use his fastball, The Washington Post reported Friday.

Scherzer suffered a stress fracture last August in the knuckle on his right ring finger that is still causing him some pain when he grips his fastball.

That fastball is what helped Scherzer lead the majors last year in strikeouts, including a game in which he tied a major league record with 20 strikeouts.

Another Seahawks player, Bobby Wagner, did it last season against Arizona. After the game, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians vented about the play, and said it needs to be removed.

“The Competition Committee went through that play and the officials wanted it taken out,” Arians said in October. “The committee left it in, but it cannot be officiated. Whether he touches, whether it was leverage, was his foot within the framework of the defensive lineman’s feet before he jumped, all those things that go into that call, I think it’s bad for football.

The NFL itself was impressed enough with Wagner’s move last year that it even tweeted video of the play — with an all-caps “BLOCKED” and “Wow.”

Arians is likely upset with this Cheap Jerseys In The US because his NFC West foe, the Seahawks, seem to have mastered it. Chancellor even tweeted his frustrations Monday afternoon about the proposed rule change. Wagner joined in as well.

NFL free agency: Raiders add speedster Cordarrelle Patterson to boost return game

The Raiders may have embarked on a new era of more responsible personnel decision-making, but they still have a need for speed.

To fill it, Oakland dipped into the free-agent pool Monday night with the signing of Cordarrelle Patterson, the blazing-fast former Vikings wide receiver and return specialist whose addition should help to improve a unit that failed to score a punt or kick return touchdown in 2016.

Terms of the contract were not released.

“I hate the New England Patriots, and no matter who they play I’d like them to lose,” Comey said. “At the same time, I’m rooting against the Patriots and hoping their opponent beats them, because there are only two teams on the field.”

Rounding out the “celebrity” cast are free-agent NFL running back Rashad Jennings, bull rider Bonner Bolton, “Saturday Night Live” alum Chris Kattan, actress Heather Morris, singer Normani Kordei and reality stars Nick Viall and Erika Girardi. And, oh yeah, because it’s the early 1980s all over again and everyone’s watching “The A-Team” and “Love Boat,” Mr. T and Charo.

Ross is old, but he isn’t Mr. T (64) or Charo (65) old. Donny Osmond (51) was the oldest star to win “DWTS,” so there’s a glimmer of disco hope for Ross.

It’s hard not to root for Ross going from Chicago Cheap Jerseys China NHL to the cha cha cha, just to see whether he’ll be carried off the dance floor by Mr. T in the season finale. Despite his “tools of ignorance,” pity the fool who doesn’t think Ross has one more championship left in him.

Yankees place Aroldis Chapman on 10-day DL

Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman has been placed on the 10-day DL because of inflammation in his left shoulder rotator cuff, retroactive to Saturday.

The injury may explain the lefty’s recent struggles. In Chapman’s Cheap Ireland Rugby Jerseys most recent outing, Friday night in a 5-1 loss to the Astros, he gave up three hits and an earned run. In his appearance before that, May 7 against the Cubs, he blew a save, allowing three earned runs on three hits in the ninth inning of an eventual 18-inning 5-4 win by the Yankees.

“We are hopeful that [Tebow] will demonstrate enough progress in spring training that we will send him to a full-season club,” general manager Sandy Alderson said, via the New York Post.

Tebow, 29, spent his first year with the Mets in the Arizona Fall League, where he played in 19 games and hit .194 with 20 strikeouts in 62 at-bats.

This year, the Mets are reportedly open to Tebow playing in several Grapefruit League games if his performance improves in the minors.

“The guy is a tremendous athlete,” Mets third baseman David Wright said. “A nice guy and he’s really open to learning, and from the short period of time I got a chance to talk to him, he’s really focused and serious on becoming the best baseball player he can. That’s tough to do, especially when you haven’t played in so long.”

Before his stint in the minors last year, the last time Tebow had played competitive baseball was more than 10 years ago when he was in high school.

Derek Jeter-Jeb Bush group agrees to deal to buy Marlins, reports say

The group led by former Yankees captain Derek Jeter and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has reached an agreement to buy the Marlins, according to multiple reports.

The Jeter-Bush group has an agreement in principle to pay $1.3 billion for the team, according to a Miami Herald report that cited an unidentified source. Bloomberg first reported the Jeter-Bush group’s bid had won out.

Current owner Jeffrey Loria bought the team in 2002 for $158 million, and estimates of what the team might sell for reached as high as $1.6 billion late in 2016 before dropping in recent months, according to Forbes.

McCloughan was entering his third offseason at the helm of the franchise, which hired him in January 2015. Thursday marked the beginning of the NFL’s new year and thus the opening of free agency. McCloughan didn’t attend last week’s scouting combine and was away from Redskins Park this week, the Post reported, with team president Bruce Allen orchestrating all personnel decisions in the meantime.

The Redskins maintained McCloughan had been away from his office dealing with a “family matter.”

Is this a gap in an otherwise loaded team, one that could hurt their chances at winning a second straight title? Or is it just a small hurdle the team will easily jump over?

Speed on the base paths could be a minor problem for the Cubs this season. Fowler Cheap Game Jerseys had just 13 stolen bases last season, but he was a threat to run. That threat is no longer in the lineup.

Eddie Lacy signs 1-year deal with Seahawks

Fast-food worker turned Super Bowl hero turned elite shutdown corner turned . . . ex-Patriot? The best restricted free agent hasn’t heard anything from New England regarding a contract extension beyond being tendered for ’17, and now the team has a contingency by spending big to get Gilmore from the Bills. The Patriots could use the money it would pay Butler to keep inside linebacker Dont’a Hightower. If the Saints can somehow get Butler for overrated wideout Brandin Cooks, they should jump at it.

Jones is the only third baseman in baseball history with at least a .300 batting average, .400 on-base percentage and .500 slugging percentage for his career. He also won an MVP, a batting title and a World Series. He’s also good by sabermetrics, with his 53.2 Wins Above Average fourth among all third basemen and his 85 WAR sixth.
Eddie Lacy has a new home.

The All-Pro running back on Tuesday signed a one-year contract that will send him from Green Bay to Seattle, his agents at SportsTrust Advisors announced.

Lacy’s deal with the Seahawks is potentially worth $5.55 million with $3 million fully guaranteed, ESPN reported.

The signing comes one day after former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson visited Seattle without being offered a contract. The team is also scheduled to host former Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles this week, but Raiders free agent running back Latavius Murray will no longer visit after the Lacy signing, USA Today Sports reported.

Lacy, 26, was working toward a comeback season and averaging 5.1 yards per carry in the first five games of 2016 before a left ankle injury suffered in Week 6 derailed his resurgence. The Cheap Goalkeeper Jerseys Packers put him on injured reserve and he underwent surgery to repair the damage.

Francisco Lindor turned down extension with Indians worth nearly $100M, report says

Francisco Lindor is one of the best young players in baseball and after just over 1 1/2 seasons in the MLB he has been offered a $100 million extension with the Indians.

Sounds good right?

Apparently not for Lindor, who turned down the big-money contract prior to opening day, according to SI.com. The shortstop, who is making $579,000 this season, apparently is a part of a growing number of young stars — Kris Bryant, Carlos Correa, Bryce Harper — who would rather wait until free agency rather than cash in with an early extension.

Josina Anderson: Alshon Jeffery said he “wanted to go to a team that gives him a chance more than the situation he’s currently in.”

Smith showed a lot of promise during his first four seasons with the Ravens before signing with the 49ers ahead of 2015. But he had two awful seasons in San Francisco, including just 267 yards last year in 12 starts.

“Last few years were terrible professionally, you know? Football, it wasn’t fun,” Smith said about his time with the 49ers this week.. “Wasn’t very involved, so it wasn’t a fun two years as a player, but had some great relationships with a lot of people out there. Loved the locker room, loved my teammates and I loved both coaching staffs I was involved with as well so it just was I came in at the wrong time, but I’m still thankful for the opportunity that they gave me.”

Pairing Jeffery and Smith with Matthews would suddenly Cheap Jerseys US make the Eagles a much more explosive offense. Jeffery was a standout receiver with the Bears, although injuries prevented him from finishing seasons.

Chris Paul’s front offices keep failing him

Chris Paul and the Clippers failed in the NBA Playoffs again. In the most critical game of his season, Paul had his worst performance of the series. There was no fight, no argument of bad luck, and no moral victory to be had. Paul was simply bad, and as it usually goes when he doesn’t play well, the Clippers followed suit.

Despite making the playoffs nine times in his 12 NBA seasons, Paul has famously never advanced past the second round. The Clippers as a team, with and without Paul, have never done that either.

And it’s worth noting that this was almost exactly like what happened a year ago when Durant stopped Westbrook from answering a question about how Mark Cuban said Durant was the only superstar on the team. “He’s an idiot,” Durant said of Cuban, defending Russ as Russ sat next to him in a charming fedora. Ah, the memories [*wipes away a single tear*].

HOWEVER: All of the previous 13 points above are moot because of what Russ is wearing. You can’t tell anyone who’s outfitted in a floral shirt, bandana, and John Lennon sunglasses NFL Cheap Jerseys Wholesale anything. Russ looks a character from Dazed and Confused. Or like your older brother’s hot friend from college who was in that cool band you’d later realize was actually trash. In other words: He’s untouchable and allowed to say whatever the hell he wants.

Freeman was thrown into a fire too hot for most to put out — an 0-7 team. Although he won his first start, he didn’t do much after to reduce the flames, and the Bucs lost their next five games. Despite a few bright spots in Freeman’s Tampa career, it didn’t work out — definitely not from the beginning.

Of course the highest-paid rookie in NFL history started immediately. His beating out A.J. Feeley for the starting job wasn’t much of a surprise.

Paul George deserves better than the Pacers

On a night that Paul George had 36 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists, the Pacers blew a 25-point halftime lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers to lose the third game of the series. They will almost certainly be swept out the first round.

This happened a game after George said that Lance Stephenson needs to control his emotions and body language better, and that Myles Turner, who had a below-average Game 2 with six points and five rebounds, needs to take his game to the next level. These comments were twisted and phrased as attacks on his teammates and seen as further indication that George wants to and will leave the Pacers.

It’s easy to burden Paul alone with his team’s constant postseason failures, but the game is much more than one lone star or a “Big Three.” When a player as great as Paul keeps falling short with different versions of the same problem, it’s fair to criticize his front offices for constantly failing to surround a great player that makes everyone better with enough supplementary talent. It shouldn’t be this hard to do, and yet, it has been for the Hornets and then the Clippers.

Paul’s lack of success will haunt his legacy, but his own front offices have also failed him in spectacular ways. Paul knows it, too.

When asked about the #Clippers future and who Basketball Cheap Jerseys will be on the roster next year, Chris Paul says “luckily that’s not my job.”
