Lonzo Ball’s outspoken father, LaVar Ball, isn’t expected to impact his son’s future in the NBA.
LaVar has made headlines recently for boasting about his three sons, including the UCLA freshman star being better than Steph Curry, and making outrageous claims, like he could have beaten Michael Jordan one-on-one in his heyday. Despite the noise off the court, USA Today reports most NBA executives remain focused on Lonzo’s phenomenal playing skills on the court.
Per USA Today:
“Like I’ve said all along, and like he’s said all along, you know what, he wants to be in New York. He feels comfortable there,” Armstrong told Sirius XM NBA radio on Saturday. “But we understand the business. … When no one is calling for you [prior to the trade deadline] is when you’re in trouble.”
The Timberwolves emerged as a possible destination according to reports and Armstrong added: “It was an opportunity to see what his value truly was throughout the league.
“So as you can see, through all the reports, there were teams that were interested in him and what he does and what he brings to the court,” Armstrong said. “I wasn’t surprised that he wasn’t traded.
