Thunder’s Russell Westbrook ties Oscar Robertson’s single-season triple-double record

Russell Westbrook may or may not be this season’s NBA MVP, but he’ll go down in the record books nonetheless.

The Thunder guard amassed his 41st triple-double of 2016-17 Tuesday against the Bucks, matching the NBA’s all-time single-season mark set by Basketball Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson during the 1961-62 season.

The Pelicans were handed their fourth loss in the last five tries on Friday against the Spurs. New Orleans’ lone win came on Wednesday against the Pistons, when Cousins was suspended.

New Orleans took the Spurs to overtime in NOLA, and it came down to the last possession. The final result was, well, less than admirable.

It wasn’t the best shot selection, but “Boogie” can shoot the 3, after all, and time was running down. Cousins finished with 19 points and 23 boards on the night, while Davis finished 29 points.

Still, New Orleans is left searching for that elusive W while their big-two front court players are on the hardwood together — and time is running out to get the chemistry right.

The Pelicans are now 24-37 and in 13th place in the Western Conference (four games back in the loss column). If this is an audition for Cousins to stay in New Orleans past Cheap Lebron Jerseys this season, well, it’s not going as planned.

He has tailored his style to winning in the college Cheap Miami Heat Jerseys ranks, but as a guy who had a brief, three-year stint as an NBA point guard, he could easily make the transition to a more pro-oriented approach.

“In my view,” the GM said, “he is the guy who would have the highest likelihood of success. He checks all the boxes.”
